2026: The Era of the Rebrand

If 2025 was the year of the vision board, 2026 is the year of the strategic rebrand. According to Merriam-Webster, to rebrand means “to change or update the brand or branding of (a product, service, etc.)” (Merriam-Webster, n.d.). You might be wondering whether you need a rebrand or how to actually do one. Here are five simple steps to rebrand in 2026.

1. Audit Your Current Brand

A brand audit gives you a clear picture of how people see your brand right now. It shows what is working well and what needs improvement before you make any changes (Brand audit resources, n.d.). Having a clear understanding of where you are provides a baseline for where you are going.

2. Define Your New Brand Vision and Strategy

Brand strategy means deciding how you want your brand to be seen and talked about in the market. This step is the base for any rebranding effort (Brand strategy guides, n.d.). Look for inspiration on Pinterest or from your favorite content creators.

3. Refresh Visual Identity and Messaging

Your visual identity, including your logo, colors, and images, shows your brand’s personality. It helps people recognize and connect with your new brand (Visual identity importance, n.d.). Famous examples of colors identifying certain people include Elle Woods and pink or Cher Horowitz and yellow plaid.

4. Plan and Execute Implementation

Brand implementation means applying your brand identity in a consistent way across every place your audience interacts with you (Brand implementation overview, n.d.). On Instagram, you can structure your grid with a pattern of reel, single image, and carousel posts, which subconsciously signals authority to your audience.

5. Launch, Measure, and Adapt

By tracking key numbers before and after your rebrand, you can see what is working and adjust your approach using real results (Rebrand success measurement guide, n.d.). Don’t be afraid to ask your friends for feedback.
