In Graduate School, one of the buzzwords professors love to discuss is "Design Thinking." Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding (Dam and Siang). Design Thinking enables a company to understand consumer needs to serve their audience better. For this project, I contacted different companies to learn how the organizations apply Design Thinking into their market offerings. I had the opportunity to talk with the founder of bette green, Sarah S., to learn more about their organization.

1. What makes bette green different from other beauty companies? As a mom of a daughter entering her tweens, I noticed a lack of safe, natural & efficacious skincare options for her. I was taught from a young age that it’s never too early to begin a healthy skincare routine. I have my mom to thank for that and this something I want to pass down to my own daughter. bette green is Naturally clean skincare for girls, rooted in the natural beauty bond shared between moms & daughters

2. How does bette green incorporate its mission and vision into its product offering?

Bette green believes in the magic of becoming a woman and that this rite of passage should be celebrated by the people who love you most and will always have your back. bette green is about setting a new standard in clean skincare for girls, and bringing the ritual of beauty bonding to Moms & daughters everywhere.

We hope our product works as a tool to spark conversation & create connection between moms & daughters and in doing so we hope to shift the perspective of the tween experience from the end of the mother/daughter relationship to the beginning of a bond that can last a lifetime.

3. What are some of the quintessential bette green products?

4. What is the future of the company?

We just launched April of this year so right now the focus and priority is on spreading the word about bette green and getting our Cleansing Stick into as many hands and onto as many beautiful faces as possible!
