When you mindlessly scroll on social media, your algorithm will show what feels like the same content: a lifestyle influencer running around in a major city, a reality television star extending their 15 minutes of fame, etc. There is no originality. It's boring. It's formulaic. It's not worthy of your increasingly short attention span. But, when I came across Vovó Izaura Demari I stopped whatever I was doing. I saw a woman expressing her love of life through the fashion. I knew I wanted to interview her for blog. She shared some of her insights with me.

Vovó Izaura Demari's Insights
What does style mean to you?
To me, style is your soul dressed up. It’s when your clothes speak the same language as your inner self. More than following trends, style is about identity — it’s having your personality stitched into every detail of what you wear.

Is there a specific moment or memory that defines your style?
Oh, absolutely! I remember a navy blue dress with golden buttons that I wore to a dance back in the ’60s. I felt so confident and beautiful that night — I never forgot that feeling. That’s when I realized style is whatever makes you feel good from the inside out.

How has your style evolved over the years?
My style matured with me. I’ve worn lots of volume, lots of sparkle, then moved toward minimalism — and now, I blend it all with freedom. Aging brought me the courage to be myself, without fear of judgment. And you know what? I get bolder with every decade!

Who or what inspires your style today?
I’m deeply inspired by women who age joyfully and gracefully, like Iris Apfel and Carmen Dell’Orefice. But I also get inspired by young people, fashion shows, street style, etc. I love mixing the classic with the unexpected. The key is to keep observing the world.

What’s your relationship with social media?
Oh, darling, it became my stage! Social media gave me a voice, an audience, and a whole nation of sweet followers. I like to say that these days, I’m strutting more on Instagram than in my hallway.

How has social media impacted your style?
It made me even bolder! When you receive love, beautiful comments, and see that you’re inspiring others, you naturally want to keep showing up and dressing up. Social media helped me prove that age has nothing to do with limits — it’s all about self-expression!

What advice would you give someone trying to discover and define their style?
My dear, dress with honesty. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Try things, be bold, listen to your body and your heart. And never dress to please others — dress to see yourself shine in the mirror. Style is born from the freedom to be who you are.

What’s next for you?
It’ll be full of color, new steps, and more moments with my lovely followers. I want to launch my own fashion line, travel more, and keep showing the world that life has no expiration date on dreams. The next chapter will, as always, be written with love and red lipstick.
