In Graduate School, one of the buzzwords professors love to discuss is "Design Thinking." Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding (Dam and Siang). Design Thinking enables a company to understand consumer needs to serve their audience better. For this project, I contacted different companies to learn how the organizations apply Design Thinking into their market offerings. I had the opportunity to talk with Paradis Perdus NYC to learn more about their organization.

1.What makes Paradis Perdus NYC different from other fashion brands?
The goal of Paradis Perdus is to create fashion in a better and cleaner way, with the lowest impact on the planet. Far away from greenwashing we have researched what would be the cleanest possible way to create fashion. In order to do so we are working exclusively with materials that are already on the planet, transforming them, instead of growing them at a high cost for the planet. Everything we use is 100% recycled.

It’s a subtle recipe between fast forward vision from our designer as well as getting inspired from certain neighborhood, cities, were we get inspiration from the street. We’re not looking into being trendy, we make the garment we love and want to wear at a certain time, as well as timeless pieces.

4. What is the future of the company?
Great question! We are growing organically and don’t want to rush anything. We are distributing with a few trusted partners across the USA, Canada and Europe as well as through our website. We are working also on several great collaborations. Overall we want to show that a clean way in this polluting industry is possible, and in fine want to grow the recycling industry as today only 1% of the garments produced each year are recycled.
