A World of Pure Imagination: Why You Should Go To Abt Electronics

In the 1971 Paramount Picture film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) sang about entering a world of pure imagination as Charlie Bucket began to venture into the chocolate factory. In today’s world, finding a place that defies explanation is almost impossible. Data mining and SEO search optimization allow people to see their recent search history. Where is the wonder? I found wonder in Glenview, Illinois.

Abt Electronics is one of the few places that left me speechless. It could be because the parking lot was both busy and organized. Maybe it was the biplane carefully hanging over the Belligaio-style fountain. But, it was the fact it had anything and everything you could dream of to turn your house into a home. I strolled through the different sections and marveled at how this FAO Schwarz is for adults. The store attracts different ages, geographic areas, and aesthetics. I spoke with Mike Abt, Co-President of Abt Electronics, to learn more about the company.

1. What makes Abt Electronics different from other stores?
We’ve been around 87 years and understand service because we do everything ourselves and control our destiny. We make sure the customer has a great experience because we have our own drivers and installers helping the customer out. For most people, working at Abt is a career decision. After experiencing our first-class service operations, many employees decide to make Abt their home.

2. How does Abt Electronics choose the brands it stocks?
We carry products people want and name-brand products that are in demand. We are also always looking for cutting-edge products that the public may not know about, and if we think they are great, we will promote those too.

3. How does Abt Electronics incorporate its mission and vision into its products?
Our main product is our service—our techs, drivers, and salespeople. We provide an exceptional experience to our customers. Our motto and company's core belief is "the answer is yes to any reasonable request."

4. What is the future of the company?
We plan on continuing to be the very best single-appliance electronic store in the world. We have a fourth generation of Abts working in our business now who will keep the business going for the next 87 years.
