Did you know it only takes 20 minutes to travel from I-95 to Mallorca, Spain? It’s easy. All you have to do is head down Oakland Park Blvd and journey to Porfa Coffee. When you walk inside, you enter a different tempo. The bustle of Fort Lauderdale gently recedes, and you find yourself in a cozy, family-owned, dog-friendly café where flavors and memories are meant to be savored.I spoke with the Porfa team to learn more about this beautiful business.

Porfa Coffee
1. What makes Porfa different from other coffee shops?
Everything we do is intentionally crafted: from our partnership with local roasters to our Mallorcan-inspired design. Porfa is a whole sensory experience. We blend specialty coffee, culture, music and hospitality into a space that feels deeply personal. People come here not only for great drinks but for connection, warmth, and a moment of beauty in their day.

2. How has Porfa evolved since its founding?
Porfa started as a dream rooted in nostalgia, memories of our family’s island heritage and a desire to build something meaningful in our hometown. Since opening, we’ve grown into a vibrant community hub.

Our menu has expanded to include seasonal flavors inspired by tradition, we’ve introduced events like Nochecita that merge coffee with music and culture. What began as a small, passion-driven shop has evolved into a gathering place known for creativity, warmth, and the unexpected.
3. How does Porfa incorporate its mission and vision into its products?
Every product at Porfa is an extension of our mission: to create a place where people feel connected to their culture, to each other, and to themselves. Our drinks are crafted with ingredients that honor our roots while supporting local producers. All of our drinks and food are created to evoke a sense of home.

4. What’s the future of Porfa Coffee?
Porfa’s future is grounded in growth that feels authentic. We see growth not just in the traditional sense, but in experiences: more listening sessions, collaborations with local artisans, and seasonal cultural events that bring our vision to this neighborhood and maybe new neighborhoods in the future.
