Spring (Fashion) Forward: Part 2

Growing up, I loved 2006 classic The Devil Wears Prada. I enjoyed Streep's sharp tongue, Tucci's wise advice, and Hathaway becoming her advocate throughout the film.

For my MEJO 732 Public Relations and Strategic Writing and MEJO 577 Branding of Me class, students have the opportunity to write about anything they wish. I dived into the world of fashion as I direct messaged fashion brands to learn more about this world. I asked 7 For All Mankind, Alice and Olivia by Stacey Bendet, Annie Bing, Boys Lie, Monday Swimwear, Nili Lotan, Olivia Von Halle, Outdoor Voices, Thread and Supply, Triangl, Unpublished, and Varley what pieces they think are effortlessly chic for Spring 2021.

Here are Annie Bing, Boys Lie, Monday Swim Wear, and Outdoor Voices answers. If Miranda Priestly discovered what these brands are doing, she would reward each design team with her coveted smile.

Annie Bing: If I ever make a vision board, I would put Annie Bing clothes in the heart of it. Annie Bing elevates clothing staples as it ascends customers to fashionable heights. I asked Annie Bing for their opinion, and they said, " we recommend our Classics Collection. We try to keep our classics in stock year-round, as they are also our customer-favorites." Here are some of my favorites.

Images 1-3: The Max Pant. describes these pants as, " The Max Pant is crafted in our favorite ponte fabrication infused with the perfect amount of stretch, like the Dakota Pant from the Holiday 2020 Collection. Images 4-6: The Eva Tank. Images 7-9: The Kaia Blazer. According to the Annie Bing website, the Kaia Blazer is, "The Kaia Blazer is an oversized tailored jacket featuring a double-breasted closure. Boys Lie: I'll say it once, and I'll repeat it, " Boys Lie combines feminist ethos into wearable designs. It's impossible to wear their clothes and not feel like a badass." Boys Lie recently launched its limited-edition February line full of pastel colors and corsets for spring. Here are some of my favorite clothes from the February Drop.

Monday Swimwear: This semester, I have the opportunity to take MEJO 732, which is Public Relations and Strategic Writing. Dr. VK Fields dives into the rhetoric triangle. This triangle consists of Pathos, Ethos, and Logos. I first heard of these terms in my high school English class, but it was not until this semester that I saw the words' application. I find Monday Swimwear's ethos very empowering. It says, " Monday Swimwear understands that all bodies are unique, and our mission is to create suits that celebrate all different body types and let individuality shine." I asked this company what do clothing do they recommend their iconic one-piece swimsuits.

Top Row: Aruba One Piece in Ivory. According to the Monday Swimwear website," the Aruba One Piece is arguably our most flattering and versatile one piece. The Aruba's supportive under-bust band and deep V-front accentuate the decollate, while the wide straps and comfortable body make it a fit for every figure. Made in our Signature buttery soft fabric, this bold, sophisticated silhouette exudes an effortless elegance. Middle Row: Bahamas One Piece in Jaguar. Monday Swimwear describes this bathing suit as, "designed from recycled fibers in a jaguar print, this figure flattering silhouette can be worn as a one piece swimsuit or bodysuit. Outdoor Voices: As the North Carolina winter dissolves into spring, many UNC students resume outdoor exercise activities. I discovered Outdoor Voices while scrolling through my Instagram. They invoke their 3Ps (people, planet, and product) from idea conception to final sale. They even offer a 20% discount for students for in-store and online purchases. I asked them what they recommend for Spring 2021; they said their Outdoor Dress and RecTrek Pants are perfect for a Carolinian spring.

Top Row: The Exercise Dress. According to the brand's website, " This sporty dress is versatile and confidence boosting. Made in our breathable LightSpeed fabric featuring a built-in shorts liner and phone pocket." Price is $100.
