The Perfect Recipe: Why Should Go To L'Appartement 4F

In 2020, many couples announced that they had a bun in the oven. Ashley and Gautier's Coiffard oven instead had delicious french pastries. When many began and lost their sourdough starters or foam iced coffee, the Coiffards continued to merge American ingenuity and European culinary techniques as the couple opened the always-packed L'Appartement 4F I and many others found L'Appartement 4f via social media as Tik-Tokers, Instagrammers, and Bloggers lined out of the door to have a slice of France in Brooklyn. I had the chance to speak with Noa, the general manager and public relations coordinator, to learn more about why you should visit the bakery.

1. What is the meaning behind the name?
Ashley and Gautier started baking during quarantine in their apartment in Brooklyn Heights. Neither had a culinary or baking background. Once they thought their baked goods were up to par, they decided to sell croissants. After putting their wedding on hold due to COVID-19, they decided to use some funds to open the bakery. The name celebrates the owners' French and American roots.

2. How does the bakery incorporate its mission and vision into its product offerings?
Our mission is to create an authentic high quality baked good. The ingredients are imported from Europe. We must ensure that our products are of the highest quality. Sometimes, we won't sell specific trays that do not meet our standards. Our vision is to allow everyone to experience our products in a calm family-friendly neighborhood.

3. How has social media impacted the bakery?
TikTok has helped get our name out there in the community. Social media exposed New York and the world to what we can offer.

4. What is the future of the bakery?
We are looking into catering opportunities as well as possibly opening new locations around New York.
