In Graduate School, one of the buzzwords professors love to discuss is "Design Thinking." Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding (Dam and Siang). Design Thinking enables a company to understand consumer needs to serve their audience better. For this project, I contacted different fashion and lifestyle companies to learn how the organizations apply into their market offerings. I had the opportunity to talk with Holzweiler to learn more about their organization.

1. What makes Holzweiler different from other fashion brands?
I think that the biggest different between Holzweiler and our competitive brands is that we are very consistent in showing our values. We are taking parts of political issues and we are not afraid to raise our voice if we feel that we can make a difference. We are also not afraid to “gamble” and to try out different things. For example now we are opening our 3rd store in the same city and a restaurant, because we want to build a community.

2. How does Holzweiler stay ahead of upcoming fashion trends?
We are actually trying our best to not be a “trend based” fashion house. We believe in creating “winners” and to offer something not everyone else are selling. But of course, we have to follow trends when it comes to silhouettes etc.

3. How does Holzweiler incorporate its mission and vision into its product offerings?
We want to create clothes for everyone. In a family you can see both the youngest and the oldest wearing Holzweiler and it’s not a “problem” for any of them. We are a family company and want to make sure that everyone can wear Holzweiler regarding how they look or how young/old they are.

4. What is the future of the company?
The future of company is to be more represented around the world. We want to open stores in Copenhagen and London.
